Introducing The Veggie Patch Kid

Okay, so I’m not exactly a vegie patch kid, YET. But I plan to be. I love music, books (childrens books and young adult books to be exact) and food. I plan to become a little more sustainable each day and I just love the taste of vegies that have been grown in a backyard. I swear putting in all that effort to grow your own lettuce leaf makes it taste SO much better! I could go on for pages and pages about the delciousness of homegrown vegies but I will do that later. I am meant to be introducing this blog.
As I have already mentioned I will be talking about food inspirations and taste sensations I encounter in my day-to-day life and will be sharing with you my vegie garden adventures and misadventures. I will be getting my inspiration from “The Little Vegie Patch Co.” by Fabian Capomolla and Mat Pember. A fabulous little book about how to grow food in small spaces without getting bogged down with all the technical jargon that tends to just confuse me and turn my brain in to mush, which most definitely does not result in a vegie patch.

I will also be attempting to do some book reviews. I am, however, new to this whole reviewing thing so bear with me, my friends, and hopefully I will produce some words worth reading. I work as a book sales consultant at a lovely little bookshop in little old Perth called Westbooks, which is a childrens specialist bookshop, my reviews, therefore, will be predominantly for picture books (which I have a slight obsession with) and young adult books (which I just love to read). You may occasionally find the odd review for an adult book when I get over excited about something. Which if you ask anybody that knows me, tends to happen on a far too regular basis.

Last, but certainly not least. I will be sharing with you lovely music that I may encounter whether it be music concerts or musical theatre, albums that I listen to or just a pleasant song I may come across and fall in love with. You never know, you may discover something you never thought you would enjoy.

Life is about the little inspirations we encounter in our daily lives and how we choose to interpret these and use them to motivate us and keep us happy!

And so I bring to you my food, literary and musical inspirations in “songs from the book of the vegie patch kid”

Enjoy!
